Witt Lipton
In the rooms where simsense is really made, he is god. Everywhere else he is a man who rents.
The producer. In the dimly lit rooms of technology where simsense programs are really made, Witt Lipton is god, and everybody in the industry says so in about those words. Six years ago he was an assistant programmer pushing envelopes for old men who thought simulated senses were for travelogues. Four years ago he directed Free Fall, the picture that made Honey Brighton, and he has had the best signal processor in the city ever since.
He works for Amalgamated Studios on the Melrose lot, under its Halftone Pictures label, and he is three-quarters of the way through a picture with sixty million in it.
He is rumored to be leaving for Brilliant Genesis along with his lead. He complains about the people calling the shots constantly, so everybody assumes he would jump.
He is a dwarf and he is thirty, against a reputation that sounds fifty. People who have only heard of him keep looking past him for somebody older, and there is a version of that mistake he has stopped correcting.
He lives alone and he rents. A corp-driven car takes him between the condo and the lot, and if he wants to deviate from that route they send a second car to cover him. Very little social life, none of it outside the industry, and no vices anybody has been able to find.
What the crew knows#
- He is the house style. The thing the ads promise every hundred and thirty-seven seconds whether the scene needs it or not is his call, and he is unapologetic about it.
- There is a rough working agreement. Certain things are not going to be made public, and in return the crew are carried on the payroll of a picture with sixty million in it. Nothing is written down, no figure has been said twice, and everybody involved is being extremely polite.
Contact#
| Connection | Producer, Amalgamated Studios. Reachable, carefully, and he answers his own messages |
| Reach | Total inside a post-production floor and nil outside one. He can green-light a picture and cannot get his own route changed |
| Loyalty | To the work, and after that to whoever lets him do it his way |
