Ex-uniforms
The top of the violence market. Trained by somebody else, paid by whoever's hiring now.
The top of Los Angeles's market for hired muscle, and the most dangerous tier of it because somebody else already paid to train them. Lone Star contractors who were here in 2057 and stayed under other names. Laid-off Knight Errant hires who didn't make the cut when the Westside contract last renewed. Plant security from fencelines that closed. Whole units that were decommissioned together and never stopped drinking together.
They come with a former employer's habits, and that is what you hire them for: a squad that used to run Lone Star's Seattle doctrine still runs it, badge or no badge, which means a GM who knows that doctrine can run the squad without inventing anybody.
What the crew knows#
- Trained, equipped, and disciplined in whatever their old employer drilled into them. A crew who worked with, or against, the parent contractor once can predict this squad cold.
- They negotiate. A unit that spent years answering to a chain of command doesn't stop wanting one, and the crew who offer terms instead of a fight are speaking a language these people already know.
- Nobody here reenlisted anywhere. That's usually why they're for hire at all: something ended the old job, and it wasn't a pension.
- Equipment traces. Serial numbers, house calibers, a unit patch half-picked off a jacket. What they're carrying tells you who trained them faster than asking does.
Standing with the crew#
Neutral, and priced by the job. Nobody here has a grudge against the crew specifically; they have a grudge against whoever they used to work for, and that's worth finding out before the shooting starts.
